The questions people ask when they’re deciding whether our letters are the real thing. They are — here’s exactly how the writing, paper and envelopes look in a homeowner’s hands.
Is the writing actually handwritten?
Yes. Every letter is written by our handwriting machine in real handwriting — not a font, not a laser printer. The result is indistinguishable from human handwriting because it genuinely is written, with natural pressure and slight irregularities.
Why not just use a handwriting font?
Because it doesn’t survive contact with the reader. Printed cursive looks fine on screen, but the uniform loops, identical letterforms and flat ink tone give it away the moment someone holds the paper — and a “personal” note that’s been spotted as marketing gets treated like marketing. real handwriting, real pressure variation and human irregularity are the whole trick, and they can’t be printed.
What pen and ink do you use?
A real ballpoint pen loaded with classic blue ink — the pen your recipients would grab from a desk drawer. The ink goes down with genuine pressure variation and slight irregularities, exactly like handwriting, because that’s what it is.
Will my recipients be able to read it?
Yes. Our writing is neat, consistent and legible — the handwriting equivalent of a tidy thank-you note, not a doctor’s prescription. If a letter were ever genuinely unreadable, that’s on us, and we’d make it right.
What are my paper and envelope options?
Every letter is written on premium 190 GSM paper — white, just off-white — one stock, chosen to feel like an occasion the moment it’s picked up. Each sheet is cut in half (8.5 × 5.5) and folded into our classic announcement envelope, hand-addressed and sealed with a real First-Class stamp. Envelope addresses are handwritten to match the letter.
What size are the letters? Why half-letter?
Each letter starts life as an 8.5 × 11 sheet, cut in half to 8.5 × 5.5 and folded into a classic announcement-size envelope. It’s the format history reserved for wedding invitations and birth announcements — real news — so when it lands in a mailbox full of bills and flyers, it gets opened, not skimmed. A handwritten address, a handwritten return address, and a real First-Class stamp finish the job. It’s a big part of our 98% open rate.
What does my recipient see before opening?
A handwritten envelope addressed to them personally, sealed and finished with a real postage stamp — the kind of mail people open first.
Is the envelope hand-addressed too?
Yes. The address, the return address and the letter inside are all written to match — one consistent human hand from envelope to sign-off, finished with a real First-Class stamp.
Is each letter really folded by hand?
Yes. A machine holds the pen; people do the folding, stamping and sealing. It keeps every letter genuinely handmade where it matters.
