The Real Ink Letters API is for the builders – REST, JSON, and a straightforward order object. If you can send an HTTP request, you can mail a letter.
Episode video coming soon – the written guide below has everything you need in the meantime.
What you’ll learn
- Authentication with your API key
- The core endpoints: orders, letter content, writing styles
- Placing your first order from code
- Where the full reference lives
Step 1 – Get your API key
Sign in to your account and generate an API key. Keep it secret – it can order letters on your behalf.
Step 2 – Compose the order
An order is JSON: your recipients, the letter text, the writing style, and your return address. One request, one mailing.
Step 3 – Send it and watch the status
POST the order and you get back an ID. Poll the status endpoint – Processing, In Production, Mailed – the same statuses you see in your account.
Step 4 – Read the full reference
Every endpoint, parameter, and example lives in the API documentation.
API orders use your own list – the names and addresses your systems already hold. The price per letter runs $4.50 down to $1.99, and every price includes the writing, the stationery, and the real first-class stamp.
